Side Projects
Cyber Crisis Game Infrastructure (Near Completion)
Developed a custom containerized environment and automated deployment pipeline for a cyber crisis simulation game, bringing it to near completion with custom ISOs and a web interface.
Challenge
The need for a streamlined, reproducible, and user-friendly setup process for a complex cyber crisis simulation game, including custom software environments and simplified user access. A key challenge was managing dynamic AP network credentials that changed after every reboot, requiring an adaptable connection solution.
Solution
As part of a group project, I was responsible for setting up all necessary hardware and building the core containers for the game. This included implementing a CI/CD pipeline for automated container builds and self-hosting our own container registry powered by Harbor. I also developed custom DietPi-based ISOs with pre-configured Access Point (AP) functionality, and a basic HTML web interface providing essential information and dynamic connection details (including a QR code that updated with each reboot) for easy user onboarding. The project reached 99% completion, ready for final deployment.
Impact
- Significantly reduced projected setup time and manual configuration efforts through my contributions in automated container builds, CI/CD, and custom ISOs, had it been fully deployed.
- Improved potential user accessibility and experience by providing an intuitive web interface with dynamic QR codes for effortless connection, even with changing network credentials.
- Demonstrated strong capabilities in creating consistent and reproducible game environments through containerization, CI/CD practices, and self-hosted registry management, adaptable to dynamic network conditions.
